Christopher Jewitt

Christopher.

Specialist Documentary Photographer. Unfortunately bohemian by circumstance, I live in the splendidly dilapidated yet terribly trendy suburb of Brunswick. I share this experience with 5 other stoic souls. Currently I am studying my 3rd and final year BA Photography. What a fortuitous position? Travel to China. Final semester of course. All expenses paid. Lovely.

Never been to China. Study Mandarin for 12 weeks with no prior knowledge. Present 'Aussie' culture in front of 1.3 billion Chinese students. Lovely?

My previous global escapades have been interesting but this will test the lot. I have an increasing dedication to Asian Art and the chance to immerse myself deep within Chinese culture brings great excitement.

You cobbers goin' seem bloody grouse. First thing when we arrive, Dingo's Breakfast then some aerial pingpong ay.

Kirby Taylor

Hey All,
So I’m a 2nd Yr International Studies student and in this course I am trying to focus on the foreign affairs sector, predominantly Asia. I have studied Indonesian for 8 years now and hope to complete an internship there next year,I have also done a semester of Chinese at RMIT and can’t wait to go there!

Before moving to the city at the start of 2010 to begin uni, I lived my whole life in a very small country town in north-central Victoria called Rochester. I still call it home during summer and other uni breaks. My parents, two younger brothers and my younger sister still live there. Previously I have been on a youth exchange to Germany and Austria and I have also holidayed in NZ! I am very excited to be broadening my overseas experiences!

Whilst over there I can’t wait to immerse myself in this fascinating culture, learn about the history and travel around the country, of course the very populated cities of Beijing and Shanghai are top of the list but I would also love to get out to some rural areas and villages! Some sites such as the Great Wall, Forbidden City and historical Pingyao are a must for me as is the natural scenery!

Here is a token shot in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge with a friend, one from camping over Easter time with family & a family snap from a wedding on the river in my town! I’ll upload some more soon!

Cara Bradley

Hi China bloggers!

My name is Cara Bradley. I am one of the photographers going with y'all! I currently live in West Melbourne, just moved from the south eastern suburbs in March with 3 awesome room mates. I was born in California and moved to Aust when I was little. My Mum is Australian but my Dad is American. I did a degree in Microbiology at Melb Uni and went on exchange to Lyon, France with my uni to perfect my French. I then travelled to as many places as I could spend quality time in in Europe and did a road trip in the USA while living there with my Dad. I am a BIG fan of CouchSurfing! On my trip I saw beautiful beautiful things and met amazing people, went to Burning Man, climbed mountains, picked grapes, back country backpacked for the first time, fell in love a couple of times and watched the sun rise. My blog has heaps of info about me: http://bonjourcara.blogspot.com/

I am totally looking forward to comparing going to exchange to France and going on exchange to China as I think the goal are completely different. I am looking forward to understanding Chinese culture and seeing the amazing natural features of China. I am going to walk the Great Wall, go to Xian to see the warriors, visit Beijing.

Feeding lorikeets on my Couch Surfing host's balcony in Sydney last year (this is a good one for China yeah?)

First Post

Hi everyone! To start the blog it would be nice if everyone does a short intro about themselves. Maybe just what you are studying at RMIT, some basic interests and what you are looking forward to most about China.

Cheers, Matt
